Heey Everyone,
On the Wiki channel in the Odyssey Discord, some discussion about the wiki was had. It made me realize we may need some new guidelines for editing, to make sure things are clear.
Firstly I would like to point out https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Policies as well as https://legacy-of-the-dragonborn.fandom.com/wiki/Legacy_Wiki:Policies_and_guidelines
Those are the current guidelines as well as the help page for creating guidelines, which give some helpful tips.
Icecreamassasin, the creator of Legacy of the Dragonborn, suggested the following:
Legacy of the Dragonborn Wiki guidelines:
-All data for LE and SE versions should be separated into their respective sub pages.
-No posting of cheat or workaround console commands designed at circumventing normal play (completing quests, bypassing systems, etc) unless the action was recommended by a development team member as a fix for a known issue.
-As is the general rule indicated in the Legacy of the Dragonborn full guide (link to Nexus Article). We DO NOT endorse player use of the console outside of troubleshooting (which means normal play is not continued after console was used) or developer advisement; it is called the "developer console" for a reason and can lead to inconsistencies in your game, instability and wastes our time when you present other issues in support which may have been exacerbated by console use.
-If an edit to a page is reverted or amended by another user, please verify with current wiki coordinators (Administrators) as to if the edit was done with authority or if the information should be put back in. DO NOT simply undo the change to put your content back in until confirming with them that it should be.
-If you are not on the most current version, please indicate your version number in your article contributions. If the addition is consistent with the most current version, wiki coordinators may opt to remove the version indicator. If the element differs in the current version, they will retain the note about applicable versions.
- The Spoon is a secret (Shhhhh)
When reading the help page, the first thing that comes to me is that this is somewhat long, see the KISS method section. Also some things should be more like editing guidelines, not overarching Wiki Policy.
I say we make two pages:
A wiki policy page, that has some policy's like:
The Wiki should not include technical information about installing and/or bugs with Legacy of the Dragonborn. Readers should be directed towards the Official Guide (INSERT LINK) for technical information or help.
As an extension of this rule, the Wiki should not provide recommendations for usage of Console Commands.
We should also have an editing guidelines page, that mostly just takes all the guidelines / templates we've been using and i've been compiling in https://legacy-of-the-dragonborn.fandom.com/f/p/3702587513635003076
These are the guidelines that should help people design the actual pages, using the correct format.
I would also like to draw attention again to my post about the Forums here:
https://legacy-of-the-dragonborn.fandom.com/f/p/3819930550010043092
Please discuss any Policy's or Guidelines in the comments of this post. When we've reached a consensus of what policy's to have, we should start the actual voting process.
